Concordia Seminary Guild Meets 2005-06 Project Goals and Adopts 2006-07 Goals

The Concordia Seminary Guild exists in order to “cultivate a deeper interest in Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and to provide items for the campus and students that are not ordinarily furnished by the Seminary” (Seminary Guild bylaws). A major annual emphasis for the Guild is a list of service projects, which includes providing clergy shirts, books, and many other useful items for Concordia Seminary students. During its March 17 meeting, the Guild announced that it had completed all of its 2005-06 service projects. The total amount dedicated to these projects exceeded $20,000.

“The Concordia Seminary Guild is composed of women who love their Savior and love Concordia Seminary students,” commented Rev. Glen Thomas, vice president for seminary relations at Concordia Seminary. “The list of items the Guild provides each year for our students is astounding. I know that I speak for our entire Seminary community in expressing thanks to God for the Guild and all that it does to enhance life on our campus.”

At the same March 17 meeting, the Guild adopted its list of projects for the 2006-07 academic year. The total amount needed to complete these projects exceeds $23,000. “This amount will stretch us a bit,” commented Judy Hartung, projects chairperson for the Guild. “Yet, I am confident that the Guild will meet the established goal.”

The Guild does not engage in fundraising events or activities, but relies solely on membership dues ($8/year for individuals; $15/year for societies) and offerings received to accomplish its service projects.
