Mary Ann Florea Called to Glory

Mary Ann Florea (nee: Bridgewater), registrar at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, died from complications of acute leukemia on Dec. 21, 2006. She was 47 years old.

Visitation will take place Friday, Dec. 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the funeral service will take place Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11:30 a.m., at Alexander Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Ann, Mo. The committal will follow the funeral service in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, adjacent to the funeral home.

Mary Ann joined the service staff of Concordia Seminary in October 1993 in the purchasing office. In May 1995, she transferred to the office of the registrar as department secretary, and in July 2004 she was promoted to professional staff in the position of registrar.

“The Concordia Seminary campus is stunned at the loss of such a beloved and valued member of our community,” commented Rev. Glen Thomas, special assistant to the president. “At the same time, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. We look forward to a far better day that will include an eternal reunion with Mary Ann and all who share in Christ’s victory over sin, death and the grave.”

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Gene, her son, Nathan, and her mother, Harriet Bridgewater (also a former employee of Concordia Seminary). She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Amanda.
